What Texas licensed electricians need to carry

General Liability

$1M/$2M standard. Required on all commercial contracts. Electrical work is a high-risk trade — carriers scrutinize operations closely.

Workers’ Compensation

Texas non-subscriber, but most GCs require it from electrical subs. Critical given arc flash and electrocution exposures.

Commercial Auto

Required if any vehicles carry tools or equipment to job sites. Hired & non-owned auto fills the personal-vehicle gap.

Tools & Equipment

Your GL doesn’t cover your tools. Electrical tools and test equipment are high-value — schedule them or use a blanket floater.

Umbrella / Excess

$1M–$2M over primary. Required on larger commercial and public projects. Often specified in master sub agreements.

Pollution Liability

Some electrical work triggers pollution exposure — generator fuel, transformer oil, underground conduit. Carriers vary on inclusion.
